Resonance Raman spectra of a single crystal linear chain platinum compound, [Pt(en)2][Pt(en)2Cl2](ClO4)4

Strong resonance enhancement of the Pt(IV)Cl stretching vibration of a single crystal of [Pt(II)-(en)2][Pt(IV)(en)2Cl2](ClO4)4 has been observed with the incident light vector parallel to the linear chain Pt(IV)Cl Pt(II)(Z). This resonance enhancement is much reduced in the E ⟂ Z spectrum where a normal Raman spectrum is also observed. In agreement with these results the visible reflection spectrum with E‖Z shows a maximum at 435 nm, which is absent with E ⟂ Z.
