Cross-cultural similarities in gestures: The deep relationship between gestures and speech which transcends language barriers

Les As. considerent que les gestes accompagnant la parole sont marques par des similitudes trans-culturelles ; par exemple, certains gestes iconiques facilitent la recherche de mot, sans consideration de la langue utilisee. Afin d'identifier ces schemas interculturels, les As. examinent le discours et le comportement gestuel d'un locuteur arabe syrien dans trois differentes conditions sociales et comparent les resultats obtenus, avec ceux de locuteurs anglais analyses dans les memes conditions. Ils emettent des conclusions importantes concernant la structure temporelle des gestes, leurs liens avec les operations cognitives sous-jacentes et leur sensibilite a la situation de communication
