Cerebral blood volume and hemoglobin oxygen saturation monitoring in neonatal brain by near IR spectroscopy.

Recent advances in perinatal care have brought improvement in the survival rate of very low birth weight (VLBW) and asphyxiated newborn infants over the last decades. Nevertheless the incidence of major neuro-developmental abnormalities in these patients has remained relatively high.
