Broadband and low-loss rectangular waveguide to substrate integrated waveguide transition with fin line

A novel broadband and low-loss rectangular waveguide to substrate integrated waveguide transition is presented. To realize a wide bandwidth of operation, a novel fin-line probe is inserted into a metal rectangular waveguide. A single V-band back-to-back structure is designed, manufactured and measured. Experimental results agree well with simulation, showing excellent performance with a return loss better than 19.3dB and an insertion loss of 1.27-1.44 dB at 50-73.8GHz. The proposed broadband and low-loss rectangular waveguide to substrate integrated waveguide transition can be widely applied to microwave and millimeter-wave applications.
