An Interactive Environment for Creating Module Generators

The design of module generators requires a flexible environment to define their procedural build-up, verify their electrical behavior and characterise their delay and power consumption. This paper presents an integrated set of tools for the interactive description of the structure and the topology of parameterized modules. For the layout of the leaf cells sybmolic layout is used, while their assembly can be realised by automatic abutment or by river or channel routing. It also forms the input to a system for expert verification and analysis of the critical path.
