A Study on the Real-time Ramp Control Method in Urban Highway Network

The present ramp control method of urban highway is not effective especially in the condition of heavy congestion because many operational constraints exist, The objective of this paper is to make a Real-time Ramp Control Method which is applicable to unstable traffic flow such as congestion. Peak load pricing is applied to this method in order to reduce the time that on-ramp is closed. In constructing such method, the main difficulty is the lack of algorithm which can quickly solve the optimization problem. In this paper, Genetic Algorithm is applied to help solve this particular problem.
