any but a few specialists, and it is too specialized and too expensive for most Indian students. Presumably it will be bought by the libraries of university departments of archaeology within India. Even for them much of the information it contains is derivative and therefore of no primary value. It is painful to write such negative criticism of the work of any young person but it would be unfair not to apprise libraries and other potential purchasers of the character of the book. In conclusion one can only say that it would have been more appropriate to publish these observations, which extend somewhat the already known patterns of Pleistocene geological deposition and Stone Age typological sequence, in summary form in a suitable journal.
