Modelling voltage forced coils using the reduced scalar potential method

Previous papers have presented tech- niques for modelling voltage forced coils using the magnetic vector potential (1),(2). The disadvan- tage of this approach is that the structure of the coil niust be meshed, and the coil region inust be modelled using 3 variables per node. The scheme presented in this paper is based on the method of modelling current sources using a reduced scalar potential (3). The current becomes an unknown and an expression for the terminal voltage is de- rived. This technique removes the difficulties of meshing the source coils.
