Optimal sensor location for the parameter identification in the distributed parameter system

Most practical engineering systems are distributed parameter systems, the model parameter identification methods of distributed parameter system are not sophisticated as those of lumped parameter system. Many modified methods of lumped parameter system can be applied to distributed parameter system. But the problems involved in the distributed parameter system are much more complicated than those in the lumped parameter system, and the optimal sensor location is distinctive to the distributed parameter system,which has a significant effect on the parameter identification precision of the distributed parameter system seriously because the observed values are polluted by the noise. So a kind of optimal algorithm was put forward based on the determinant of information matrix which was acquired during the parameter identification process,and the determinant of this information matrix was only interrelated with the sensor location Then D-optimum experimental design was used to optimize the sensor location. The simulation results show the efficiency of the method, which is valuable for the choice of optimal sensor location in the distributed parameter system.
