A Linear Programming Model for Daily Harvesting Operations at the Large-Scale Grain Farm of the IJsselmeerpolders Development Authority

This paper describes the development of a mathematical programming model as a tool for the management of harvesting operations at the large-scale grain farm of the IJsselmeerpolders Development Authority. The most important part of the paper is the description of the role played by the model in the organisation of harvesting operations. We discuss the experiences with the model during two years but do not give details of the mathematical specification of the model. The model was developed at the Operations Research Department of the IJsselmeerpolders Development Authority in cooperation with the Department of Industrial Engineering of Eindhoven University of Technology. The Operations Research Department implemented the model in the large-scale grain farm.
