On the Point Defect Production in Electron-Irradiated Molybdenum

Thin foils of 99.95% pure molybdenum were irradiated with monoenergetic electrons in the energy range 0.85 to 1.70 MeV at a temperature ≦ 8 °K. The defect production was measured by monitoring the resistivity change rates per incident electron. By extrapolation, an apparent threshold energy for atomic displacement was determined to (30) eV. The annealing behaviour of molybdenum was investigated after bombardments with 0.95 and 1.7 MeV electrons. A model for the stage I recovery of the induced point defects is presented and compared with that proposed by Afman in a recent study. Nous avons irradie des fuilles minces de molybdene de purete 99,95%, avec des electrons monoenergetiques d'energie comprise entre 0,85 et 1,70 MeV, a temperature ≦ 8 °K. Le taux de production des defauts etait determine par mesure de la resistivite electrique. Nous avons determine, par extrapolation, l'energie seuil apparente de deplacement atomique: (30) eV, et etudie le recuit des defauts crees par irradiation a 0,95 et a 1,7 MeV. Nous presentons un modele pour le recuit de l'etape I, que nous comparons a celui propose par Afman dans une etude recente.
