Energy consumption performance results Of multiband OFDM UWB systems

Due to the great evolution of high data rate applications in current wireless standard, energy efficiency (EE) is becoming an attractive metric that needs to be well investigated according to the increase of the consumed power. In this paper, we analyze the EE (bits/Joule/Hertz) of multiband orthogonal frequency division multiplex (MB-OFDM) system over IEEE 802.15.3a ultra wide band (UWB) channel. Here we focus on capacity maximization subject to power constraint. Traditionally we think about improving the data rate in terms of spectral efficiency (SE) criterion but recently the purpose is to minimize the consumed power which needs a tradeoff. Hence, the goal is to do a theoretical framework showing the relation between maximization of data rate and power control of the system. The challenge following the improvement of data rate is solved by convex optimization tools. Then, we characterize the relation between EE and the consumed energy through numerical analysis.
