The invention provides a bus information query method based on a mobile terminal of a user. The method comprises the following steps: sending a bus query request to a server by a first user; generating a bus query result corresponding to the bus query request by the server; providing the generated bus query result for a first client by the server, wherein the server determines the bus query result according to bus running state information provided by other users. According to the method, additional GPS (Global Position System) or communication modules do not need to be installed for all buses or stations, so that the implementation is easier, the system cost is greatly reduced, perfect bus information query systems can be established in cities with inadequate infrastructure investment capacity, and the comfort level and the satisfactory degree of residents taking buses are greatly increased.
