Voice User Interface for Understanding Wireless Sensor Networks

The research area of wireless sensor network witnessed an increased attention in the last few years due to the great potential to allow dense monitoring of the environment. With the sensing technology of wireless sensor networks large areas can be monitored allowing for a comprehensive study of the environment. Handling wireless sensor networks requires prior knowledge about the technology and this becomes an issue for a first time user, unable to explore the whole potential of the networks. Incorporating wireless sensor networks technology with voice user interface technology allows the creation of a platform for developing new innovative user interactions. This paper presents a novel voice user interface for understanding wireless networks by integrating the voice recognition features of the Center for Spoken Language Understanding (CSLU) toolkit with wireless sensor nodes allowing a interaction with a wireless sensor network through voice input
