The Overanswering Mechanism in the Fido System

The present paper describes the approach to the problem of overanswering in the FIDO (a Flexible Interface for Database Operations) system. The overanswering process makes use of the various representations of the input query that are generated during the whole process, from parsing to data retrieval, to take into account everything that can be useful to produce a meaningful answer, from the NL structure of the input query to its logical representation.(*)
