Information Literacy: A Review and Poststructural Critique

This paper examines the literacy of libraries through a review and poststructuralist critique of the concept of 'information literacy'. It argues that, because the assumptions of the information literacy framework hail from print cultures and psychologistic discourses, information literacy is not so much a panacea for the challenges of lifelong learning in a communications-based society, but is a hindrance to critical and transformative literacy practice.
