Towards data warehouse business quality through requirements elicitation

Data warehouses are mainly used to support decision-making based on the analysis of highly heterogeneous sources to extract, transform and aggregate data, as well as facilitating ad-hoc queries that retrieve the decisional information. Data warehouse development involves many knowledge-intensive activities, of which requirements elicitation is recognized as being crucial and difficult to model. This paper adapts the data warehouse requirements elicitation process, namely informational scenarios, to incorporate business quality at the requirements engineering level of the DW development. To accomplish this, we look at DW business quality mainly from the context of changing economic factors and environmental concerns.
