Bringing Autonomic Principles for Managing Next Generation Networks and Services: A Report on LANOMS 2007

The Latin American Network Operations and Management Symposium (LANOMS)has been the main forum for discussing network and services management in LatinAmerica since 1999, when the first LANOMS came to life. LANOMS 2007, held inPetropolis, Brazil, during September 10–12, was the fifth in a series of highlysuccessful biennial symposiums [1–4] on the field. For the first time LANOMS wasjointly organized with the Latin American Autonomic Computing Symposium(LAACS 2007).The technical program was organized as a single track to stimulate discussionsand interactions among attendees. The LANOMS 2007 program was composed ofinvited speeches, technical sessions, invited paper sessions, short paper session,aswell as tutorials presented by distinguished researchers and practitioners.Thirteen full papers were accepted for publication. In addition, authors of fivesubmissions were invited to publish their work as short papers and also to presentthem in a special technical session. Each submitted paper was reviewed by three
