Characterisation of Ni-Mn-Ga magnetic parameters based on indirect measurements and mathematical modeling of the experimental setup

Magnetic shape memory MSM materials can generate up to 10% strain when exposed to a magnetic field. The magnetic properties of MSM depend on the level produced by the strain. Due to small size of samples produced by IMS, such as Ni-Mn-Ga, there are difficulties in the reliable characterisation of their magnetic parameters. This article focuses on methods for calculating the magnetic properties of ferromagnetic materials with shape memory effect based on incomplete experimental data and modeling of the measurement system using the finite element method. The paper describes the experimental setup in which the experiments were performed with a reference sample, the magnetic characteristics of which are known in advance.
