Case-Based Diagnostic Systems

Case-based reasoning (CBR) is a way of using past solutions to a particular kind of problem to solve similar new problems (Kolodner, 1993; Watson, 1997). CBR has been enjoying considerable attention over the past few years — the subjects offered as tutorials at major artificial intelligence and expert systems conferences indicate what aspects of knowledge-based systems are thought to be most relevant to the attendees, and tutorials on CBR have been on constant offer for several years.
