It is noteworthy that although extensive literature has been devoted to psychoacoustic, behavioral (on animals) and electrophysiologic studies of sound source localization in the horizontal plane, until quite recently basic attention has been focused on the investigation of the localization of unmoved sound sources (Altman, 1972).
