Inthis paper, weintroduce a2D/3Dmixedservice inTerrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB)system usingdepth-image-based rendering (DIBR). The2D/3Dmixed service isthe3D service typethat3D contents areshown partially whilea2D videosequence isdisplayed intheentire screen, orviceversa. Thisservice isveryattractive because partial display of3D contents canmaximize theeffect of3D services andcanreduce theviewer's fatigue while watching a3D display. Especially, wecanprovide moreflexible 3Dservices with alowamountofdatabyusing DIBR.Moreover, 3Dcontents can be manipulated efficiently by XML-basedmetadata. The proposed 2D/3Dmixedservice istested using various contents in the3Ddisplay withparallax barrier. Theproposed 2D/3Dmixed service canbeemployed efficiently astheadditional dataservices inconventional T-DMB structure.
