Design and implementation of a video surveillance system based on 3G network

In this paper, the design and implementation of a wireless video surveillance system supporting wide area access based on 3G network is proposed. The main architecture, the software and the hardware design of the video surveillance system are discussed separately. The system is composed by three major components: the video data collection nodes, the video data control web site and the data terminals. The video data collected from each video node is sent to the control node for processing and publishing. When end users access the web site via video terminals, authentication is made before the required video stream is distributed. In cases of available wired Internet access, the wired version of video nodes is also implemented.
