The ROPE (rapid object-based prototyping environment) application development environment (ROPE-ADE) is a collection of tools that assists in the development of new software systems. One of the distinguishing features of this environment is that it assists in the reuse of both designs and code. The environment currently consists of two tools which are themselves reused in the development of other tools in the environment. One of the major aims of this environment is to facilitate rapid prototyping of applications. These prototypes are to assist in the analysis of the application and its evolution into a product. Another distinguishing feature of this environment is that it is being developed using an object-oriented design and implementation language.<<ETX>>
