QoS-aware fast BSS transitions for seamless mobile services and load balancing

In this paper, we propose a QoS-aware fast BSS transitions for seamless mobile broadband multimedia service provisioning and load balancing. The proposed scheme is based on i) cognitive WLAN ESS management for load balancing, ii) network initiated fast BSS (basic service set) transition, and iii)QoS-aware roaming/handover with resource request over distributed system(DS). The proposed scheme had been evaluated in real testbed environment, and its performance showed enhanced QoS provisioning in congested ESS (extended service set) environment.
