A Sociological Demographic Analysis of the Current State and Evolution of the Family

Starting in the 1960s, researchers in many countries of the world have expressed concern over the state of crisis of monogamy, addressing the phenomenon as a direct function of global social transformations. It is difficult to agree with the negative assessment of the current status of the family not only by philistines but also by sociologists, demographers, and psychologists. The institution of the family— and evidence is provided by the centuries-long history of the institution (and confirmed by research done by L. Morgan, F. Engels, and F. Le Play as well as W. Goode, R. Hill, L. Roussel, S. Katsenbogen, and A. Kharchev) has turned out to be a most stable entity.
