Target Locating Based on Air-Ground Cooperation with Support of AWACS

Bistation bearing-only cross locating is a common and widely-used locating method in radar network. The locating error increases rapidly near baseline and its elongation line, thus it is difficult to implement accurate target locating. To solve the problem,an air-ground cooperative target location method is proposed based on the support of AWACS.By using the target altitude information supplied by AWACS and target angle information supplied by ground radar, the distance to the target can be calculated out in data processing center. The drawback of the bistation bearing-only cross locating is overcome. The precision of the algorithm is analyzed.Simulation showed the feasibility of the method.
