Punching of bridge slabs with a special reference to non-symmetrical moment distribution, non-eccentric column load and scale effect

This investigation is based on tests made at the former Department of Building Statics and Structural Engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. Some of the results were presented in the following reports (in Swedish): Nylander, Sundquist [8], Kinnunen, Nylander, Tolf [5]. This paper describes the most important results and some new evaluations of 10 slabs with a total depth of 120 mm, 4 slabs with a depth of 240 mm, 3 slabs with a depth of 700 mm and 8 slab strips with a depth of 120 mm. The tests comprised mainly the study on, uneven distribution of the load in two perpendicular directions, column eccentricity achieved by uneven load distribution, scale effect and the effect of shear reinforcement consisting of stirrups.
