Multidimensional force spectra of CNC machine tools and their applications, part one: force spectra

The multidimensional force spectra of computerized numerical control (CNC) machine tools are described in this paper. One hundred and twelve medium-sized CNC machine tools have been tracked for three years. The data including the machining parameters and conditions, drawings and NC programs of parts, process cards and specifications of each individual CNC machine tool have been gathered. A database containing the above information was designed. The forces and speeds of CNC machine tools were calculated and the distribution parameters of forces and speeds were estimated respectively. A fuzzy multicriteria comprehensive evaluation method was applied to evaluate the fitness of distribution model. On the basis of the analysis of force and speed spectra, the multidimensional force spectra of CNC machine tools are proposed. This methodology lays a foundation for the reliability design of components of CNC machine tools.
