Study on a Voice-Operated Transmit (VOX) algorithm based on digital signal processing

This paper presents a new Voiced-Operated Transmit (VOX) algorithm based on digital spectral analysis. It has the characteristics of being simple, easy to adjust the parameters, unaffected by the ambient noise, and easy to be realized by digital signal processing. The algorithms use the power spectrum reprocessing method to extract the averaged amplitude envelope of speech signal, and by the application of a threshold to get the VOX function. The results of computer simulation show that this algorithm can work well under the low signal to noise ratio condition.
