Optimum moisture content to begin harvesting corn as influenced by energy cost.

ABSTRACT THE process of selecting the moisture content to initiate the harvesting of corn can be viewed as the economic trade-off of energy expenditures between the energy required for drying and the energy associated with harvest losses. This paper is concerned with a method of selecting the optimum moisture content to begin harvesting based on the economic values of both drying fuel energy and corn grain energy, and the drying method and harvesting rate.
