Calculation of the temperature distribution in a biological object heated by microwaves

Conclusions1. One can use an equation derived from the heat-conduction equation for a homogeneous model in order to determine the temperature distribution produced in a homogeneous biological object by microwaves. The results agree well with experiment.2. It is possible to correct for the cooling effects of blood flow in the microwave heating of a homogeneous biological object by inserting into the heat-conduction equation a nonlinear term corresponding to heat removal by the blood flow at a rate dependent on the temperature of the heated region. Approximate solution of this equation gives results in close agreement with experiment.
