An earthquake's strong waves damage the built structures and this structural damage in earthquakes tends to cause substantial injury because the heaviest parts of the buildings tend to fail and collapse, thus causing danger for people. Large-scale damage in an earthquake indirectly leads to the substantial disruption to normal community activities by losing production caused by the damage to production facilities and all these needs building regulations to address risks.
