THE VALUE OF INTERNAL CONSISTENCY IN CLASSROOM EXAMINATIONS

Some other test specialists, including the present writer, believe that internal consistency is just as valuable in a test used for assessment as in a test used for prediction. A good assessment device, they believe, may also be a good predictor device, if what it assesses is an important element in, or precursor of, what it is used to predict. They thus question the suggestion that a good predictor device should have psychometric characteristics different from those of a good assessment device.
