Abstract A graph of collector efficiency versus tube spacing was obtained experimentally for a flat-plate copper collector. The graph was found to be approximately linear. From its slope, the optimum tube spacing for maximum cost-effectiveness was estimated, using actual material costs. For Fiji prices it was found to be in the region of 160 mm.
