Structural Analysis of Light-Frame Subassemblies

Conventional light-frame subassemblies have a long history of good performance. Until recently this performance could not be quantified adequately because of the complex ways in which these subassemblies resist loads. This paper reviews research from the 1950s and 1960s on load transfer mechanisms and shows how this work has formed the basis of the subassembly models of the 1970s and 1980s. Emphasis is specifically directed toward analytical methods that account for load transfer between elements in subassemblies. Refs.
