Impact of large scale photovoltaic system on static voltage stability in sub-transmission network

Voltage stability is designated as one of the most significant factors for stable operation of power system. Grid connected Photovoltaic (PV) produces significant impact on static and dynamic voltage stability because of possessing intermittent characteristics. In this paper, detailed theoretical analyses of the impact of large scale PV on static voltage stability of power system network have been presented. The preliminary section of this paper provides literature review with specifications of IEEE-14 bus network. The following section offers details of the simulation investigations under diverse configurations of grid connected PV. P-V curve, singular vectors of power-flow Jacobian matrix and modal analysis have been performed to classify characteristics of designed systems. Afterwards, the influence of PV on frequency dependent load has been analysed. Finally, key findings from the study are provided in conclusion. This can be concluded from analyses that the integration of grid connected large scale PV provides positive impact in terms of static voltage stability of the network.
