Global asymptotic estimation of grid voltage parameters for variable frequency AC systems

This paper presents an observer to estimate grid voltage parameters, including frequency, amplitude and phase angle, for the variable frequency AC systems of more electric aircraft. Regarding grid voltage as a dynamic system with an unknown grid frequency, a parametric model is established, and then, an adaptive observer is developed to estimate grid voltage parameters with zero steady-state error. Unlike most existing voltage parameter estimation methods with local asymptotic stability, the proposed adaptive observer is proven to be globally asymptotic stable in theoretical sound, which ensures that the proposed method has a better stability and faster dynamic performance for voltage parameter estimation. Simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
