Maternal obesity affects fetal myocardial function as early as in the first trimester

To investigate cardiac function from 14 weeks' gestation in fetuses of obese pregnant women (FOW). Animal studies have shown that maternal obesity induces fibrosis in fetal myocardium. We hypothesized that fetal cardiac function would be impaired among FOW.
