XXXVIII Wegener's Granulomatosis

Wegener's granulomatosis is a disease which has been recognized since 1931, when Klinger 1 first described it. In 1936, Wegener 2 first described and characterized it as a syndrome consisting first of necro tizing granulomata of the upper or lower respiratory tract; second, generalized necrotizing vasculitis involving arteries and veins, almost always involving the lungs; and third, renal decompensation, almost always leading to terminal uremia and death.
