Factors inhibiting the expansion of value methodology in the UK construction sector

Although the concept of adopting Value Management within the UK Construction Industry has been well discussed for many years, it would seem that, in general, its application is confmed to a relatively small sector of the market. This paper reviews the extent of the application of Value Management m the UK and investigates factors that may be inhibiting its wider use. Consideration is also given to the beneficial influence that direct Value Management experience may have upon the perception of its benefits and the importance of the role of the quantity surveyor in extending the use of Value Management in practice.
