Engineering development status of the Darrieus wind turbine

This paper describes the aerodynamic, structural, and system considerations required for the engineering development of the Darrieus turbine. Particular emphasis is given to the necessity for close interaction of these three areas and their effects on energy costs. Currently available experimental data and analytical methods are discussed together with specific results and trends which have been obtained to date. 65 references.
