This paper presents a practical method of calculating scroll compressor performance considering 1-D leakage loss and heat transfer effects. The heat transfer effect is cosidered between scroll wraps and various refrigerants, which is used modified scroll flow analysis derived from curved duct flow. Gas leakage flow through small tip clearances is modeled using 2-D and quasi one-dimensional viscous fow analysis. The 2-D study also establishes that when clearance(δ) is very small compared to the scroll thickness, a quasi 1-D model is adquate to predict the leakage. Therefore, the solution of the quasi 1-D model can be used efficiently in performance analysis of compressors including such leakage.
