UWB Radios — The maturity age?

This paper introduces to the NewCAS 2016 Special Session on Ultra-Wideband Radios. The aim of this introductory paper is, firstly, to analyze the obstacles and challenges which have been addressed to date. For that purpose, it recaps some of the major developments emerged in the last decade in the area of ultra-wideband radios, especially for localization. Then, together with other papers of this special session, it emphasis the latest advances and identify the future perspectives for UWB radio technology.
