Numerical analysis for induction heating process of ferromagnetic materials

The induction heating process of ferromagnetic billets was simulated using finite element software(Flux),on the basis of non-linear models of materials' physical properties as a function of magnetic field strength and temperature.Variations of temperature and electromagnetic field during induction heating, and their influences on the physical parameters of materials were obtained. To test the accuracy of the simulated results,an experimental system for examining the heating process was established, and the temperature curves at several points on the billet surface and the active power curves were achieved.A perfect coincidence between experimental data and simulated ones is acquired, which confirms the reliability of the proposed physical models. As a result, this work offers both theoretical and practical references for designing induction heating systems specially for ferromagnetic materials.
