Cross-domain identification of common platform oriented to product family design

To deal with identification of Product Common Platform (PCP) in the product family design, it was studied from the perspectives of product structure, function, and customer requirement. Firstly, the undirected graph model in product structure domain, the directed graph model in product function domain, and the vector table model in customer requirement domain were constructed. Secondly, based on these models, the multiple constrained coupling space model and its corresponding matrix were established. Thirdly, the cross-domain unified identification issue was transformed into a problem of calculating the length of equivalent distance between points and origin in multiple constrained coupling space. The optimized set of PCP was obtained by comparing the lengths of equivalent distances with each other, while the production capability of enterprise and the market segment were simultaneously considered. As a result, the identification problem was solved quantitatively. Finally, a case of wheel loader was provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of above studies.
