Modeling and simulation of current transformer with air-gap based on PSCAD/EMTDC

Based on the analysis of the core's characteristic,current's basic equations and core's magnetizing property,a model of TPY current transformer is established with the help of simulation program custom components in PSCAD.The process of modeling,the model's interface and parameters' setting are introduced.Simulation example shows that the new model of TPY current transformer does not have the core saturation because of the air-gap and thus proves its validity.The model can provide a new current transformer model with good transient performance for electromagnetic transient simulation and computation of UHV power system in PSCAD/EMTDC.
