Effect of multiple compact fluorescent lamp usage on residential power quality

This paper discusses the results of experiments performed to analyze the effects of multiple compact fluorescent lamp usage on residential power quality. CFLs are quickly replacing incandescent lamps in home lighting but their effects as non-linear loads on residential power quality is unknown. We performed 15 sets of experiments with different CFLs and analyzed their harmonic interactions. The results provided interesting outcomes in terms of collective contribution and harmonic cancellation. Some of the results are tabulated in this paper and discussed.
