Using a Genetic Algorithm to Optimize the Performance of a Wireless Sensor Network

The emerging field of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) combines sensing, computation, and wireless communications into a single tiny device. With the strict energy constraints and application-specific characteristics, WSNs distinguish themselves from other traditional networks. A huge number of new communication protocols considering the WSNs' features are designed to meet the heterogeneous application requirements. Therefore, the decision to select the optimal set of protocols for a given task before a WSN's practical deployment is an important issue.
