Geographic Information System is widely used in kinds of domains, including environment, resources, public health, and crime. Along with the rapid development of spatial science and technology, vast spatial data are received every day, especially the remote sense data. It’s impossible to process these data by hand step by step. In order to make full use of these data, it’s imperative to find more efficient ways to turn the scale. More importantly, except the complicated spatial analysis in GIS modeling, there are usually complex simulation and calculation in various intricate applications. Although GIS is powerful in spatial visualizing and analysis, it is weak in advanced statistic and numeric computation. How to improve this situation becomes another important problem in GIS to solve. In this study, we introduced an idea of automation, which is widely used in software development testing, into GIS modeling and application. At the beginning, we give an introduction of the popular automated testing tool Auto It, the famous GIS software ArcGIS, and the powerful computation system MATLAB. Then, three types of integration modes are given to illustrate how to combine the automated tool into GIS and MATLAB. It shows that it becomes more flexible and easier with the management of the automated tool to construct complicated model and application. An empirical example demonstrates the main ideas and merits of the method. Finally, we draw conclusion.
